Tuesday was wild. It started with the delivery of a forklift, which was super exciting for Henry. The forklift would be used to push the container into the space and lift it to add the steel footing (the last step).
Shortly after this, the shipping container arrived. We had some pretty intense moments just watching the driver back it in. Good thing for mailboxes that look like they are stuck in concrete, but aren’t.
This is was a tight squeeze, and the lean of the container moving through a dip in the ground almost gave me a heart attack.
They got it in through the gate! Whew.
Next, Dean moved the shipping container into place using the forklift. Just a big tree left to get around.
The last step is to lift the container and weld posts to metal plates on the ground that were installed last week.
We are so thankful for Dean Coker LLC and his crew for making this happen. Now, it’s up to us to finish the shipping container transformation. We have the electrician, plumber and spray foam insulation company lined up next week.
We’ve also decided to paint all three structures the same color- the shipping container, house and storage shed. We’re getting quotes for that too. More to come!
